Spinner Baits with UV and Glow-in-the-Dark Paint: Handmade in Riga
Spinner baits are among the best-known tools for perch, pike and trout fishing. Omery has been making them in Riga since 1986, and every one is handmade. This time we show how our spinner baits look in three different kinds of light: daylight, UV light and darkness.
Spinner baits: what they are
A spinner bait consists of a body and a blade that spins around an axis in the water. On our models the blade is golden, and behind the body sits a hook with a red and black feather tail. The connections show swivels and metal beads that let the blade rotate freely.
You can see all of these lures in our spinner bait category.
What the photos show
In daylight
In the first photo, three spinner baits lie on a white surface. The first has a bluish-yellow body, the second is orange with a dark top near the head, and the third is green with black cross stripes reminiscent of a perch’s bars. All the bodies have a scale pattern, a large yellow eye and silvery dots along the sides.
A printed logo is also visible on the bodies. It shows that a lure can be made with your company’s brand.
Under UV light
In the second photo, the same lures lie under a UV lamp. The bodies light up in green and orange, while the metal blades stay dark. That is exactly what UV fluorescent paint means: it reacts to ultraviolet light and stands out against a dark background.
In the dark
Another photo was taken in almost complete darkness. It shows pale greenish stripes along the edges of the bodies that keep glowing even without the lamp. This is the glow-in-the-dark effect. The image is blurred by movement, but the glow is clearly visible.
UV fluorescent and glow-in-the-dark paint: what’s the difference
These two effects are not the same thing.
- UV fluorescent paint stands out brightly when ultraviolet light falls on it.
- Glow-in-the-dark paint glows in the dark after it has absorbed light.
We combine these effects so that the lure is noticeable in different conditions. We don’t promise miracles, because many factors determine the result in angling. Still, a carefully painted lure with contrast and glow is a good addition to your tackle box.
Where the lures are painted
The third photo shows our painting and drying stand under UV light. Dozens of lures in green, orange, yellow and blue hang in rows on the shelves. The film on the floor is covered with bright green paint drops, a sign that the work here is done by hand.
In the fourth photo, lure bodies lie on a surface with wire shafts not yet fitted. This is one of the production stages before assembly.
Spinner baits for perch, pike and trout fishing
Spinner baits are widely used in perch fishing, and many anglers call them perch spinners. The green model with dark stripes is designed after the colouring of a perch. Even so, anglers also use such lures for pike and trout fishing.
If you are more interested in casting lures, take a look at our spoon lure category, while weedless lures are designed for angling in overgrown spots.
Handmade in Riga since 1986
Omery is a lure manufacturer in Riga, working since 1986. Our lures are handmade, made in Latvia, and anglers use them all across Europe. Every lure is painted individually, so the finish is always slightly unique.
